Privacy Policy – Alpha Rentals

Alpha Rentals (“Alpha”, “we”, “us”) provides premium vehicle rental in Auckland, New Zealand. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it and how you can access or correct it.

Information we collect

We only collect the information we need to arrange and manage your booking or answer your enquiry:

Contact details – your name, phone number and email address.
Booking details – the vehicle you choose, pick-up and drop-off locations, dates and times, flight number (if you give it) and any notes such as child seats or extra luggage.
Enquiry details – anything you tell us through our contact or enquiry forms.
Driver licence details – we will ask to see a valid driver licence for each driver when you collect the vehicle.
Technical information – basic data your browser sends when you visit our website, such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting and security tools use to keep the site running and protect it from spam.

How we use your information

To check availability, prepare your quote and confirm your booking.
To contact you about your booking, including changes, reminders and flight delays.
To reply to questions and requests you send us.
To keep records we are required to hold for accounting, insurance and legal purposes.
To protect our website and customers from spam and misuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you ask us to keep you updated.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when it is needed to provide our service or when the law requires it, for example with:

our staff who look after your booking;
the service providers that host our website and send our emails;
our insurer, if there is an accident, damage or claim;
the New Zealand Police, NZ Transport Agency or other authorities where we are legally required to, for example for traffic or toll offences during your hire.

Some of these providers may store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected in a way comparable to New Zealand law.

How we keep it safe

Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and booking records are only available to authorised staff. We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, and then delete it securely.

Cookies

Our website uses a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work, such as remembering your booking details while you fill in the form. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly without them.

Accessing and correcting your information

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. Please contact us using the details on our Contact page. We will respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please let us know first so we can put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
